Welcome to my Peace Corps Kazakhstan website (please bookmark now, and send $10 for your free monthly
subscription). So, I had my mid-live crisis early and went and joined the Peace Corps. I'm assigned
to a city called Ust-Kamenogorsk, an old Soviet industrial town about the size of Bangor, Maine, and,
I'm delighted to say, one of the world's most polluted cities. For background info, please check out
these links for Kazakhstan information and for a map of exactly where I am. My PC job is to work with
an American company called Pragma, doing business consulting for local small/medium businesses. I'm
also teaching high school economics (no, I never took an economics class, but its all supply and demand,
right?). I live in a studio apartment in a "high rise" near the river, very posh, very non-Peace Corps
(unless you count -40F challenging, when your eyelids actually freeze together for a moment when you
blink).

So feel free to browse the site that my friend Frank has so graciously agreed to put together and
maintain since I have the technical abilities of a caveman. Browse the pictures, read my journals,
leave messages in the guestbook. If you have a desire you can even call me or send a carepage, I'll
never turn away a box of goodies (I even have an idea list for you!). One of the side benefits of this
little adventure is that my family and friends get to know about Kazakhstan. My perception of this
country before I came compared to now is like night and day, so if you want to have some of that
sunlight, visit the site frequently!

By the way if anyone's interested in hunting deer with enormous racks, this region of the world is
your destination. Check out the Hunting Expeditions that are available for Kazakhstan. One of my
clients here owns a little deer farm, so this is part of my attempt to drum up interest.
