I'm tucked away in an isolated city in Siberia with about five other Americans, so any contact I have with "the outside world" is very welcome.

Thanks to the new, high tech Peace Corps, there are several ways to contact me:

  • Online: I have pretty good online access, so feel free to email me, or look for me on either AOL messenger (pckazman) or Yahoo Messenger (arkelly66), I'm usually on at the beginning and end of my day, which for you math majors is about 10pm-midnight EST and 5am-6am EST. Of course, the guestbook is a great place for a comment or a simple hello, I'd love to have more of that, I know how much we all hate to write emails (so now, pop over to the guestbook and say hello, right now, right this minute!)

  • Phone: I have a phone in my apartment, the connection is fine but beware of the rates. I'm always eager to receive a call on the holidays, or from some upstanding friend or family member simply drunk-dialing. My number is (+7) 3232-25-85-78.

  • Snail Mail: If you are so inclined, you can send a package, I even have a list of ideas for you that are light and easy to send. If you send it straight ground it'll be a three month journey, air mail speeds it up to just three weeks or so. My mom has created mailing labels to help the process. Packages with addresses written only in English make it here fine, but the Russian version can only help.

Since I'm on the homestretch now, I'm trying to minimize the amount of stuff I KNOW I'll have to lug back to the states next summer, so if you do send anything, please make it edible, usable in class, or something I can give away to a local. FYI, anything from the US is worth its weight in gold, they have virtually no access to our products.

  • peanut butter
  • ritz crackers
  • chocolates
  • unique and good sweets I can give to a few 3 yr olds I know (taffy, marshmallow bunnies, etc.)
  • stove top stuffing
  • jalepeno peppers
  • cologne (they have crappy cologne here)
  • salty snacks (like chex party mix)
  • chicken spices (ie, shake n bake)
  • taco dinner packages
  • miniDV 90 min tapes (for my digital cam)
  • VCR cassettes of movies/TV shows (I have a vcr now, I can play tapes from the US and here, and since I don't have any English television except CNN, tapes are very welcome. Also FYI, any movies I have when I leave I will donate to the local library. If you do want to send movies, email me and I'll tell you what I already have)
  • cookies (oreo, chips ahoy are nice)
  • stovetop "starch" packages, like pasta mixes, etc
  • vaccuum packed tuna (lightweight, small)
  • hand razors
  • Any articles you find about economics, especially in the transition economies of the CIS
  • small souvenirs, like key chains, perfume, calendars, t shirts
